The NSW Police Force in partnership with Federal, State and Territory law enforcement and intelligence agencies, conduct ongoing intelligence and criminal investigations into terrorist threats impacting upon NSW. Information is collected, analysed and disseminated between relevant NSW and Australian government agencies and where appropriate, business sectors or individuals within the community.
The NSW Police Force has a primary role in detecting, preventing and investigating terrorism
To complement the NSW and National Counter Terrorism Plans, the NSW Police Force has developed flexible and adaptable standard operating procedures to respond to a terrorist related threat or incident. These standard operating procedures maximise combined partner agency resources of the Joint Counter Terrorism Team of NSW, as well as the investigative and intelligence response by the NSW Police Force that can be deployed based on scale and scope of an incident.
These arrangements harness the major criminal investigative capability of the NSW Police Force and partners, and provides for a rapid, scalable and sustainable response to any situation.
