Emergency phone numbers

It is important that you know the phone numbers you can call in relation to countering terrorism, and when you should call them. They are all free call numbers from any phone in Australia, and they operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Call 000 (triple zero) for emergency services

Call 000 for urgent assistance from Police, Ambulance or Fire Brigades. This is a free call from any phone in Australia, even a phone box or disconnected mobile phone.

National Security Hotline - 1800 123 400

Call the National Security Hotline on 1800 123 400 to report any suspicious activity or information related to terrorism. All information is confidential and you can remain anonymous. You can also email the hotline on hotline@nationalsecurity.gov.au

NSW Police Crime Stoppers - 1800 333 000

Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 to report crimes that are not in progress and/or have no known offender (e.g. break and enter, malicious damage, stealing, minor car accidents). Information can be given anonymously.

The NSW Police Force’s Community Contact Unit is set up to engage with the community on counter terrorism issues. The unit aims to improve police understanding of community concerns, and to increase public understanding of counter terrorism arrangements in NSW.
