Release date: 13 February 2008

Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione has announced six strategic appointments to command key branches of the New South Wales Police Force.
Six officers have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner. They are:
- David Hudson - State Crime Command
- Peter Dein - Counter Terrorism and Special Tactics
- Frank Mennilli - South West Metropolitan Region
- Paul Carey - Professional Standards Command
- Michael Corboy - Director Education & Training
- Peter Gallagher - Human Resources
“I’m really looking forward to working with the new Assistant Commissioners. These are the Commanders who manage the big commands. Their leadership will set the standards for our fight against crime and the way we train and manage our officers”. Mr Scipione said.
“They all have outstanding operational experience and knowledge, but importantly they also have a vision for each of their Commands.”
The jobs were advertised in December, following the appointment of Deputy Commissioners David Owens and Nick Kaldas.
Commissioner Andrew Scipione has praised those who applied for the positions, saying the high standard of applicants made it a difficult choice.
“It’s never easy especially when you consider the strength and depth of the field, but I firmly believe the interview panel has selected the best officers for the job.
The next tier of Commissioner Scipione’s changes will be the appointment of new Superintendents to lead Local Area Commands and Specialist Commands. That is expected to occur within the next four weeks.
